Basically, this is the extended rules for the Force-Sensitive characters. The character sheet setup for the Force-Sensitive clearly states that you begin with the three inherent abilities, as well as three neutral abilities of your choice. To gain more, as it says, you will have to learn them at the Jedi/Sith Academies, though that may not always be the case. Here is how this will be achieved.
To Gain A Power: To gain a new Force ability for either the Dark or Light side, you will first need to appeal to the respective admin, Darth Malfius for Darkside or Solis Fay'den for Lightside, via PM and request the power. To begin, you may only appeal for the basic powers. Advanced powers will be discussed further on. After making the appeal, you must wait for a reply from the admin you have PM'ed. They will then either A) Set up a thread with their character teaching you, if you are a student of the particular academy, or B) request you create a thread in the area of your choice, attempting to learn the skill of your own volition.
If the admin decides you have roleplayed significantly well enough in the thread, you will be notified that you have earned the power, and can add it to your character sheet at "Basic Understanding" level.
One very important note is that if you are not planning to learn the power at the temple, the chance you will get the power will be lessened, both creatively, as you will basically have to write your own stand-alone thread (unless training in a group), and technically, as the admins will judge harsher on those not training in the academy, to try and keep the 'rogue Jedi' idea from becoming too populated.
Speaking of which: Please, in your PM, let the admin know if you are learning at the Academy or not, it will save us the time of actually checking into your characters history, both in your bio and recent, and making us guess.
Advanced Powers: These are the advanced powers in each category, and as such, tend to be more powerful than the regular powers.
Gaining these powers takes the exact same process as appealing for Basic powers: Simply PM the right admin with what power and whether you're learning it in the Academy or on your own. There are two major differences, however, in gaining Advanced powers.
One, to even appeal for these powers, you must already have at least six of the basic powers of that side of the Force. After that, there is no set Basic-to-Advanced ratio, but we recommend keeping them fairly balanced, and if the admin sees you are getting more Advanced powers without learning more Basic powers as well, you will be denied the chance to earn the Advanced Power.
The second difference is that earning an advanced power will be much more difficult than earning a Basic power. This should go without saying, but if you want an Advanced power, you are going to really have to work for it, especially if you decide to try for one outside of the Academy. In fact, some of the more potent of the Advanced Powers, ie: Morichro for Neutral, Revitalize for Light, and Force Crush for Dark, will be SO hard that only the best roleplayers will be able to earn them. This is to keep those powers as rare in our game as they are in the real universe, so not everyone is running around killing with a thought.
Neutral Powers: Gaining the Neutral force powers is exactly the same as Light or Dark: Appeal for it, and you can appeal for Advanced after gaining six Basics. The only differences is that you can appeal to either admin for a Neutral power ONLY if you are not learning in a particular academy. Contact the admin of the academy you wish to learn the power, if you are learning in an academy.
Plus, Neutral Force powers, since they are unaligned with either side of the Force, will be slightly less difficult to obtain than their Light or Dark brethren and, once learned, can not be forgotten. (See next section.)
Going from Light to Dark, or Vice Versa: While we strongly disapprove of teeter-tottering between the two sides of the Force, there may be instances where your character 'falls to the Dark Side' or perhaps is 'brought back to the Light' and you will want to change sides and, effectively, powers. While it IS stated in the Force Powers section that it is not the power that is inherently Dark or Light, but how one uses it, the different Force Powers are basically used as a 'measuring stick' of how far you are to each particular side.
Thus, to keep things balanced, if you are of one side and wish to learn a power at the other side, not only will the difficulty level be raised yet again (and even MORE so for rogue Jedi!), you will lose a power of the original side, a power that the admin will decide upon.
EXAMPLE: Say Solis fell to the Dark Side, and I wanted to learn Drain. I'd appeal to Malfius, get his consent, and train wtih him at the temple. Should I prove myself worthy, he would award me the power, but take away one of my Light Side powers, most likely Cure.
As you see, there are a few 'interchangeable' Dark and Light side powers, and the admins will tend to stick with removing the Light version of the Dark power you just gained, or vice-versa. However, the final say rests with the admin, so be wary when changing Force powers...
Jedi/Sith Rank Promotion: There are four levels in the Jedi and Sith Hierarchy, although the first, Youngling and Minion, respectively, may be passed over if you are not playing a child character, starting instead at Padawan or Acolyte, respectively.
Promotions are gained on a regular basis. Every two months, the Jedi and Sith admins will check those Jedi/Sith that have been doing well overall for the month and will post a sort of 'commencement' post where they call a meeting and name off those who are promoted. If your name is listed, than you have reached the next status. There are no real, set bonuses to being any of the titles, as far as Powers or strength in them goes, but, the normal pecking order of each Hierarchy will apply, giving you respect from the lower classes.
Keeping Track of Force Powers: This is more of a note than a rule, but it needs to be said anyway. As of now, we were working on an unlocked bio system. Your Force-character's bio will be approved, but will not be locked, so you can modify it to keep track of what Force Powers you gained. This saves us from having to go and modify EVERYONE'S bio when they gain something, but also forces us to work on the honor system. We will have our mods as well as the admins checking bios from time to time for correctness, and if we see that you have tried to cheat yourself an extra Force power or two, you WILL be banned. We will NOT abide by cheating in this RP. If you are banned and there was some sort of mistake, you can attempt to email one or both of the admins, but expect VERY little tolerance from us when dealing with this situation.
That's about all there is to know about Force rules, be sure to PM Malfius or I if there is any confusion.
